This week was highlighted by the Centaurus girl’s team breaking the school’s 4×800 meter record. They ran 10:16.59 to better the previous mark of 10:16.9. They’ve been a great group to coach this season and that race was a wonderful highlight of hard work and patience paying off. There were plenty of PRs and great runs, but any school record is always a highlight of the meet! The track meets always are a reminder at how lucky I am to coach such a great group of boys and girls!
My own training has been very successful this week. I touched 90 miles for the first time in months and I’ve had a few good workouts this week. I was a little fatigued starting out the week after the 5k last Sunday, but quickly turned the corner mid-week. I’m starting to feel much more comfortable running sub 70s 400 meter reps. I’m confident I’m ready for a great run in Philadelphia at the Penn Relays on Thursday…followed up by a half-marathon that was my first major road race I competed in during my redshirt-junior year. I won that race, now called the St. Luke’s Half-Marathon, and sparked the idea that I could be a competitive road racer and marathoner. This 10,000m & half-marathon double will also be my two hardest efforts leading into the USA 25k Championship on May 12th in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

One of my favorite memories in college. The group of five of us all had massive PRs, which I think added up to almost 5 minutes off our cumulative PR. I went from a 31:41 10k PR to a 30:19 10k PR on that awesome evening. Looking forward to seeing those guys and racing at Penn Relays on Thursday night!
