Continuing to keep the running volume low, I had another very good week of training and have definitely shown myself I’m ready to run the 10k at the Penn Relays in a few weeks!
This last week was a very fun week. I was lucky to have my mom come and visit on Thursday and help plan my yard. The amount of landscaping I’ve done is truly amazing, and my yard is really turning into a relaxing home for me. Thank you Mom! She was also able to attend the high school meet on Saturday and two of my teams practices. At the meet, the kids showed a lot of toughness with a bunch of personal bests. I had all of the kids state their goals for the meet in front of the distance crew. Out of the 22 kids competing, all but two achieved their goals…some of which were quite lofty! Embracing one kid after he broke 5:00 for the mile for the first time (4:56) was a highlight of the meet.
Here’s a glimpse of this past week’s training. Little core work as the pick ax, shovel, hand saw, and mulching took care of that for me!
Monday: AM 7 Miles Easy with one of my running idols Benji Durden and his friend/training partner Steve Sellers. PM:7 miles with high school boys. Lift + core after 2nd run.
Tuesday: AM: 16 miles up Poorman’s with 2+ inches of snow. Took two hours on this hill climb with Trent Briney! Approximate loop here…http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/80450391
Wednesday: AM: 10 miles with Wednesday morning crew out at the Boulder Res. PM: 5.25 miles with Wednesday fun run from the Boulder Running Company for a Mizuno Community promotion event! Be sure to check out their Wednesday group runs!!
Thursday: AM: 11 Miles with Matty Reed
Friday: AM Tempos and Intervals with Matty Reed, Trent Briney, and Greg Weich.

8x400m with (200m jog)
PM: 3 miles easy with high school boys
Saturday: OFF! Enjoyed the day at the high school meet to recover from yesterday.
Sunday: Long run 14.5 miles with 8x100m hard strides in last ten miles.
About 88 miles for the week with a terrific Friday workout.
