Tyler is a USATF Level 1 Certified Coach with a passion and interest in learning the science of long distance running. Tyler has read numerous books including, Daniels’ Running Formula, Running with the Legends, Best Efforts, Running with Lydiard, Advanced Marathoning, Run Strong, Nutrient Timing, Athletic Development, Running with the Buffaloes, as well as many others. Tyler has also studied books on nutrition, psychology, and Zen, all of which influence long distance running performance.

Tyler is currently an assistant coach for cross country at Centaurus High School and also the assistant track coach in charge of coaching the distance runners at Centaurus. In the Spring of 2011, Tyler was the Head Track Coach at Peak To Peak High School. The lady pumas finished 2nd in the conference meet and Tyler coached two triple jumpers to the Colorado State Meet, including Chris Roob’s 6th place finish at a sophomore.

In the fall of 2011, the Centaurus Warrior Boy’s Cross Country Team won the 4A State Championship. This was the first state title for the school since 1999 and the first for the boy’s and girl’s cross country teams. Read Tyler’s explanation of the race here.
